Past President 2011-2012

Thomas G. Sampson M.D. has been an innovator in hip arthroscopy since its inception in the early 1980's. He devised with his associate James M. Glick M.D. the Lateral Approach to Hip Arthroscopy which defined the technique and made it reproducible. He has developed numerous procedures of which the most notable are iliopsoas release and arthroscopic reshaping of hips with femoroacetabular impingement, and has been an innovator on instrument and equipment design. "Education to improve patient care and outcomes" is his motto, which takes him from his practice in San Francisco, California, both nationally and internationally, to educate his colleagues. Thomas Sampson is Medical Director of the Total Joint Center of Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, San Francisco and Medical Director of Hip Arthroscopy at the Post Street Surgery Center, San Francisco. He is a Founding Member of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy.
